About Despatriado

Story behind
Despatriado

He becomes an agave farmer on weekends in his native state of Oaxaca.

The brand was born in 2020 as a result of an extraordinary event in its owner’s life.

After reflecting following a heart attack, he decides to reduce the stress he endured during 30 years in the automotive industry and becomes an agave farmer on weekends in his native state of Oaxaca.

During that time, he meets other agave farmers and mezcal producers, who share with him the challenges of finding employment and the lack of resources to become independent or promote the products they create. This is where the desire arises to get involved in the Oaxacan mezcal industry — to engage with the community, take part in rural and artisanal life, and provide financial support to his fellow countrymen who, despite their hard work and honesty, are often forced to leave their communities in search of a livelihood and a better future for their families.

Our Vision
